Destruction of Pornographic Book Earned Fame

Translated from 重寫戒淫證輯 - 燬淫書得功名顯耀

During the Qing Dynasty, there lived a honest and studious man in Yunan named Xie LÜ Duan who was well-known for his filial piety. During his youth, whenever he encounterd books with pornographic content, he often bought these materials even at high prices and destroyed them immediately for fear that these might misled people to commit immoral acts. In these times, he had burnt countless pornographic books. One night, he dreamt of the God with Golden Shining Armour who congratulated for his virtuous act of destroying those immoral books and prevent them from intoxicating the minds of many. The God told Xie that he had accumulated great merits through his act and Heaven had decided to bestow him with academic achievements, fame and authority. After he woke up, he decided to be even more diligent in his study and cultivation of merits. Eventually, he did outstandlingly in the imperial examination and earned the grand title of imperial scholar. Xu was famous during his lifetime and he was known to have many great and reputable descendents

Editor commentary: Pornographic book has harmful effect like a pointed sword. While a sword could only inflict injury temporarily, pornographic materials have lasting detrimental effect to world that could last millions of years. Hence, it is everyone's duty to destroy any pornographic books and materials without fail.
